Gotta Dance of Sterling Heights had their first competition this past weekend and to the surprise of Gianna Cavacini, Antonella’s cousin, they dedicated their lyrical dance in memory of Antonella.
The song 'Not About Angels' by Birdy is a song that words alone will make you cry but add this group of girls performing their passion on the stage in their lyrical dance is nothing but absolutely breathtaking.
The teacher, Mrs. Beth, and the team surprised Gianna with the dedication of the dance along with the stunning wardrobe gowns that were hand painted with blue and purple butterflies, a meaningful symbol that has become what represents Antonella to her family and friends.
Gianna said “When I first found out that the dance was dedicated to Antonella, my first reaction was to cry because I didn’t expect anything like that. It means a lot to me because my dance studio knows how close of a friendship me and her had and even some of my friends and her had so I thought it was a really sweet thing for them to do”.
The lyrical dance landed second place in the competition and still has two more competitions to face. No matter where it lands at Nationals and Recitals it is safe to say that this dance will always place first in the heart of Gianna’s and her team.
The AI Memorial Foundation and especially the family of Antonella want to thank Gotta Dance Studio of Sterling Heights for such a beautiful dedication. To know that these girls put so much of their heart, dedication and time into their performances and felt that this dance could honor Antonella means the world to us.
As the lyrics read: 'Cause what about, what about angels? They will come, they will go, make us special....
